Zobair M Younossi,

Zobair M Younossi MD, MPH, FACP, FACG. AGAF, FAASLD is the Professor and Chairman of the Global NASH/MASH Council (GNC), Washington DC. Dr. Younossi completed in University of Rochester (AOA 1989), fellowship training at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation (1989-1995) and Master of Public Health from San Diego State University (Multiple Honors, 1995). He worked at Cleveland Clinic Foundation (1995-2000) before establishing the Center for Liver Diseases and the Beatty Liver and Obesity Research program, Inova Health System, Virginia. He has served as the Chairman of Department of Medicine (2011-2024), President of Inova Medicine (2019-2024), Chairman of Research for Inova (2005-2022) and Vice Chairman of the Board of Inova Foundation (2011-2024). He currently also serves as the President of Chronic Liver Disease Foundation (2018-Present). Dr. Younossi has pioneered research in MASLD/NAFLD and outcomes research in Liver Disease. He has authored almost 900 articles, over 1100 abstracts, delivered over 550 faculty lectures with an H-index of 155 and is the most cited scholar in Liver Disease and NAFLD/MASLD according to Scholar GPS-2022, 2024 and 2025.
